Some people love to fish on their own while others prefer going out with a group of buddies. But who doesn’t want to go out with expert guidance on a sea fishing charter? Well, no one, that’s who.
Rather than going it alone, check out sea fishing charters from the four corners of the North American continent. These have been recommended by our loyal Fishing Tree customers:
NORTHEAST – Maine
Nothing quite captures the beauty of Mother Nature like the New England coastline. If you are looking to combine a reasonably priced holiday with a top-rated deep sea fishing charter, pick Kristin K Charters in Portland, Maine.
It’s won Tripadvisor medals on a consistent basis, which shows approval of real customers over the years. That counts for a lot.
Captain Ben, licensed by the US Coast Guard, is a full-time, year-round boat captain of more than 16 years’ experience. His firsthand knowledge of the local honey holes has been passed down through a couple of generations of passionate fishermen.
Ask the locals and they’ll tell you about Captain Ben as he has a stellar word-of-mouth reputation. In fact, 75% of his clients are repeat customers.
Captain Ben also offers seal and whale watching tours or dinner and sunset cruises. And being a family man, he caters to young anglers too. So this really could be a great family holiday option.
Potential catch of the day: shark and giant bluefin tuna, sea bass, stripers, bluefish and mackerel, cod and haddock. Check out more details for your sea charter on Kristen K Charters on Facebook.
SOUTHEAST – Florida
Captain Freddie Zona has been fishing for a living for more than 20 years in the waters of central Florida.
Southwind Charters is in New Smyrna Beach and fishes out of Ponce DeLeon Inlet (between Daytona and New Smyrna Beaches). This is a sea fishing charter trip for the entire family. Southwind Charters is one hour from Orlando so accessible to all the entertainment options there. It’s an excellent way to lure in the family – especially if you feel you need to justify your trip!
The website is straightforward and some informative fishing descriptions that give you a good feel for the style of charter. Reading this info, it won’t take you long to decide if this charter is for you or not.
Potential catch of the day: The area offers some superb fishing on numerous wrecks, reefs, ledges and artificial reefs which hide a variety of bottom dwellers like grouper, snapper, black drum, amberjacks, flounder, cobia, snapper, huge redfish and plenty of sharks.
Pelagic species (season dependent) include spanish mackerel, king mackerel, bonito, mahi (sportfish dolphin), wahoo, barracuda, sailfish, and even a blue marlin on occasion.
WEST – Northern California

Captain Collins also has a U. S. Coast Guard Master’s Licence. He has more than 25 years’ experience in commercial fishing and 17 years as a sea fishing charter captain. Michelle, Captain John’s wife, manages the bookings and is organized and down to earth, so give her a call.
Captain Dave Rominger is the last member of the team. He holds a U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s Licence, has 11 years’ commercial fishing experience and six years as charter captain.
They run two trips a day from Trinidad Pier (maximum six people per trip).

NORTHWEST – Alaska
Imagine the majestic beauty of Alaska and the natural rugged mountains and unchartered landscapes. Now feel the breath-taking moment you hook your first wild Alaskan salmon. Bucket lists are made of that stuff.
Thanks to Salty Sea Charters, a locally owned and operated charter in Ketchikan, southeast Alaska, you can have that adventure.
They offer salmon fishing charters for 4 hours, 6 hours or all day. A good option if you have the family along and can’t spend all day on the water. And like many other charters, family outings are part and parcel of the Salty Sea Charters’ offerings.
There’s no doubt about it, this just has to be one of the most pristine fishing destinations in the world. Isolated by mountains and ocean along the famed Inside Passage, Ketchikan’s waters are the perfect Alaskan fishing destination.
Potential catch of the day: Ketchikan is the “Salmon Capital of the World” so expect to catch wild Alaskan salmon and giant Alaskan halibut.
If you want to get out of state for a sea fishing charter, majestic Alaska would be at the top of our list!
